In one of those group-sandwich-lunch-info meetings about 2000, I raised my hand to ask how long would the Sonoma County Agilent remain when manufacturing, etc. dribbling to Malaysia. You want technical resources near production, so I opined maybe ten years. The GaAs fab is dated, though effective, and can likely be outsourced. Then why have anything at Foutain Grove? At the time I thought they might keep the site because of the great technical people there. Naive and sad.
